VIDEO CONFERENCING

Video conferencing software could be used to enhance children's learning in a variety of ways in the classroom:
- Live chat and discussion with children in other schools in the UK and abroad for comparing and contrasting lifestyles, culture, geography, history etc.
- Language exchange to give children the chance to use MFL skills to converse with native speakers.
- Guest speakers can talk to and work with the children from any location.
Skype Video Conference with a Year 5 Science class in Looe, Cornwall
Using the video conferencing application Skype, we observed a year 5 science lesson taking place in a Primary school in Looe, Cornwall. This allowed our class to see the methods used by the teacher to make the subject sound interesting and exciting, experience the different ways in which the children responded to the lesson and to interact with the children at the end in a question and answer session.

Video Conferencing is likely to be a very interesting way of learning for children as it appeals to the visual and audial learners, has a strong social aspect and is memorable because it is live.
